The Fight
The noises are loud,
Louder than any thunder.
The fear is great,
Greater than any Mountain.
The voices are sharp,
Sharper than any knife.
The hatred is unstandable.
That's what it's like,
When your family fights.
You sit there watching,
Through a shield of tears.
Watching, praying.
Praying for it to stop.
To stop before it gets to the sound.
The sound of the hand.
That's what it's like,
When your family fights.
When the sound comes,
You sit there and stare.
At the motion,
At the person you love
Hitting another.
It stops for a moment,
And tears begin to flow.
Then a suitcase is packed,
Because one has to go.
To go to stop the fighting.
To leave and never come back.
That's what it's like
When your family fights.
